The Doctor's Wife was the fourth episode of Series 6 of revived Doctor Who, written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Richard Clark. It starred Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, and it guest-starred Suranne Jones as a human embodiment of the Doctor's TARDIS as well as Michael Sheen as the voice of the villainous entity House.
This episode was the subject of the 5th Doctor Who: Lockdown! Tweetalong organised by Emily Cook, with Sheen, Gaiman and Clark as guests.
Tie-in content[]
Gaiman penned a new licensed Doctor Who minisode, WC: Rory's Story, which starred Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams and tied into the events of TV: The Angels Take Manhattan and WC: P.S., but had this much later Rory looking back on the events of The Doctor's Wife. Suranne Jones also recorded a non-fictional video message.
In addition to these official Lockdown! releases, TARDISshorts released an episode where Alice confronted a resurrected House and prominent Doctor Who critic Sam Maleski wrote the first of his Confinement Stories as an epilogue to the events of The Doctor's Wife.
