Strax was a Sontaran who lived with Madame Vastra in 13 Paternoster Row in Victorian London.
At some point, Strax engaged in deadly combat with the Doctor's archenemy, the Master. Although he was unaware of the fact, confused as to why his possessions had suddenly become incredibly large, the Master used his technology to shrink him in size. After this, he assembled with a crowd to watch a new version of The Day of the Doctor which was available to mass audiences for the first time in "groundbreaking" 2D. He briefly described the special including the cast of John Hurt, Billie Piper and Tom Baker before proclaiming it as "the story that changed everything... unless it didn't". However, Strax was not present for the start of the episode as he was called away by Vastra asking him to put the kettle on. (WC: Strax Saves the Day)

- Strax was the first character in Lockdown media to be portrayed by a stuffed toy; Strax wasn't the only character, however, as Michelin Man the Adipose was later depicted by a photograph of an Adipose stuffed toy in a rerelease of PROSE: The Complete Story of My Life (So Far).
